Circular 22/2010                                                                                                 20 April 2010

Dear Parent

DATE CHANGES : SPORT AND CULTURE

SPORT

With the world’s greatest sporting event being hosted from 11 June 2010 to 11 July 2010 in South Africa, the unusual circumstances (unusually long holiday) require unusual planning.

The sport programme of the second term ends on Saturday 29 May with a rugby match against Paarl Boys’ Primary School.  Other sport codes end earlier, as these matches take place during the week (sport days excluded).  On Monday 31 May the learners commence with their examinations.  It has been decided that no sport or cultural activities will take place during the examinations.  This decision implies that learners will not be physically active for 7 weeks, as the holiday commences on 9 June 2010 and ends on 13 July 2010 (examinations 2 weeks and holiday 5 weeks).

With the above-mentioned in mind, sport organizers are of the opinion that practices should commence at the end of the holiday, as our first matches will take place during the first week of the third term (17 July 2010) against Paarl Gymnasium.  It is thus, imperative that we should start early with our practices.

The following dates are of importance:

  • Thursday 8 July 2010

  • Friday 9 July 2010

  • Monday 12 July 2010

A detailed programme will be forwarded to you.  The normal sport programme will be followed from Wednesday 14 July 2010.

Please ensure that you diarize the Gene Louw sport day on 1 May 2010.  It was accidentally omitted from some of the previous communications.
