EXAMINATION : JUNE 2008

The duration of the examination will be from Tuesday 17 June to Wednesday 25 June 2008. In order to give our learners the opportunity to prepare thoroughly, we hereby provide the work allocation as well as the examination timetable.

We would like to bring the following arrangements to your attention:

All academic work will be completed by Tuesday 10 June 2008. During the last week before the examination, some module tests may be written, which at the same time serves as revision.

From Tuesday 17 June to Wednesday 25 June the school will close at 13:00. The WCED has given permission, provided that the time is used for studying. Parents are expected to complete Addendum A, whereby they confirm cognizance of the above-mentioned arrangement, as well as indicate possible problems with fetching their child(ren) at 13:00. If that is the case these learners will be accommodated at the school until 14:00. Learners are not allowed to wait outside the school for their parents/lift clubs for longer than 15 minutes.

This rule does not apply to Aftercare learners. The Aftercare will function as usual and will be open from 13:00 onwards.

The school closes at 11:00 on Friday 27 June 2008. Reports will be handed out on Wednesday 16 July 2008.

We appeal to parents/guardians not to take their children out of school before Friday 27 June 2008. A doctor’s certificate MUST be handed in to the class teacher, should a learner be absent during an examination. According to departmental guidelines, exam papers may not be written at any other time and alternative arrangements will then apply for the final assessment mark. Examination is a skill which the learners must master and we therefore, encourage all learners to take the matter seriously. Permission for urgent private matters, will only be granted in exceptional cases and the request must be addressed to the principal in writing.

Place this letter in safe keeping, so that you are able to refer to it to avoid unnecessary telephone calls.

According to Departmental regulations Section 1 or 2 must be completed by all parents/guardians and returned to school on or before Friday 23 May 2008.

NOTIFICATION OF

CLOSURE TIME DURING EXAMINATION

(learner) in Gr ……………, are aware of the revised closure time during the examination (17 June 2008 – 25 June 2008). I undertake to fetch my child/ren from school at 13:00 during the examination or/and make alternative arrangements. We also hereby confirm that he/she will be studying at home. This arrangement will apply for the full duration of the examination and there will be no deviation from this arrangement.
