Dear Parents/Guardians

CONQUESTA 2010 MULTIPLE CHOICE OLYMPIADS – GR 4, 5, 6 AND 7

Your child, as one of the learners of our school, has been invited to participate in the Conquesta 2010 Primary School Olympiads.  Conquesta is now in her thirteenth year of providing a professional olympiad service to schools across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana and is incorporating the new learning systems being put into place in schools country-wide.  The subjects on offer are OBE related and all the required learning outcomes are covered in the papers.  The duration of the olympiads vary from one to two hours, which will be indicated per paper.  The olympiads will not interfere with the school’s curriculum nor the examinations.

Learners can participate in a maximum of four of the subjects on offer.  Olympiads are written during the third term at the schools and invigilated by the school’s educators. 

It is important to note that every participant will receive a beautiful A4 colour certificate.  Results are recorded on certificates according to the achievements shown below:  All learners achieving 50% - 100% in any subject will have the percentage(s) printed on their certificates alongside the award(s), e.g.:

Mathematics : Diamond (79%)

The school will receive an alphabetical list of learners, by grade, reflecting each one’s percentage results for the school’s records.

As not all learners are academically inclined, Conquesta provides a means by which weaker learners can also have a sense of achievement.  Even if they failed, at least they tried, and Conquesta provides them with a certificate in recognition of their efforts.  You may contact Conquesta direct at (031) 764-1972 to purchase their past papers for home revision purposes.

Should you wish to encourage your child to participate in Conquesta 2010, please complete the tear-off slip below and return it to the school in an envelope, marked “CONQUESTA ENTRY”, together with the entry fee, not later than 22 April 2010.
